Originally commissioned in 1899 by Clinton Jones, General Agent for the Rock Island Railway, architect Edgar Mathews created a masterpiece for Jones’ family of nine plus two servants. Arched dormer windows punctuated the roofline, cornice moldings with dentil detail outlined each side, and windows were aligned in perfect symmetry – all characteristics of classic Georgian architecture.
